So if someone sees me wearing a yellow wristband sometime in mid-December, are they gonna be like, "Dude, that's sooo July"? I happen to like wearing mine. It goes well with my tan. What's the life expectancy of these things?
Does it matter how long it's trendy?
g'day,
buy the band, support the cause, put it in a drawer...it's old already!,
cheers,
hitchy

Yeah, because supporting cancer patients is only cool for so long. I mean, someone may mistake you for supporting a good cause all by itself.
I don't know if it is old or not, but this is pretty crappy...

$3 bucks for $1 bracelet. Nothing like profiting off of cancer patients to give the good karma a boost. I should probably post a response directing people to the livestrong.com website.

Do that and don't forget to mention you are only supposed to charge $1 and not make any profit off it.

Went to the movies yesterday with my mom.
I have my yellow on. My mom was wearing 2 (no I don't know why she was wearing 2)
But the kids at the concession stand were like, "Hey, cool...where can we get those..."
My mom asked if they knew what the bracelets were for. They both said," Yeah, the cancer thing...Lance Armstrong..." Good enough, my mom gave them each one of her bracelets.
I thought it was pretty cool. They both put them on right away.

I have thought about getting one as I know of 2 people that lost the battle with caner and 1 that survived Lukemia, though her unborn child died from it. She found out about the pregnancy (and loss of the child) the day she found out she had Lukemia. I have thought about getting 3.
I guess I will just have to buy 10 as that is the fewest you can get--based on what I saw yesterday--maybe I missed something. Payday is Friday.
It will never get old if you are an actual cancer survivor. I know I am one, and it's much more than just a fad. It's our life, and it's worth celebrating.
I guess unless you have actually walked in "those" shoes, you will never understand.
Just my 2 cents. LIVESTRONG!

I'm hoping that they make a real nice one that one could wear permanently. I would buy one.

I bought mine from a Pro Peloton regional director in CT. I paid $5 each...why $5, because she was putting the $ back into the LAF for the Ride for the Roses.
She had a booth set up at a bicycle tour (not racing) event in order to disseminate information about the LAF, etc. She was aksing for a donation of at least $1 per band. I offered more because I had a $10 bill, it's a good cause and she was DEFINITELY NOT using the $ for personal gain. She and her daughter raised more than $15,000 for the '03 Ride.
Charging more $ to profit personally is just plain wrong.

I plan on wearing mine till it gets crusty and falls off.

I bought 10 about 3 months ago and have been slowing giving them away. One guy asked about it and I just handed him mine. I figure when they become "un"cool I'll wear mine for a while longer. As long as it makes me feel like part of the cycling/cancer community, it works for me. When I finally decide it's just too uncool to wear anymore, I'll put it on the shifting column in my truck or somewhere on my bike :)

That's where the second one I bought is right now.

My oldest sister is a survivor of two bouts with cancer. I plan to wear it until they find a cure.

I will wear mine till it falls off, then I will get the second out and put it on. I am not a cancer survivor but have felt the blows and lows of cancer, while my step-father battled breast cancer early this year. Yes, men can get breast cancer. I didn't realize it till I got the call from him on his way home from the Doc. What a blow! From what I have found out it is just as important for men to check themselves as it women. The numbers for men are going up.
I also would buy a permanent yellow band to wear if they would sell them.

Mine helps me ride better. If I'm going up a big hill and really struggling I take a look at the band and it reminds me of all the people in the world who are struggling way more.
I'll probably wear it until I start taking it for granted.

Yeah...mom's can be cool. I just got mine...I had a 10 pack that I ordered from the website that was on back order, and it finally came. I plan to give them to my friends, and just see if anyone asks me about it. I plan to wear two for just that reason. I don't think it'll get "old" and if it does, well then that's just another reason the fashion police to come after me!

Does coolness really count? I would have thought people would wear it with a purpose in mind.
Hell they were selling on EBAY for $30-40 a week ago.

Me too!
Last night I saw one of the young ladies in the Olympic volleyball match wearing one.
Life expectancy? Not long. I broke mine on Sunday while taking it off. That's a little more than a month. Guess I'll head over to the mall and pick up a few more.

I plan on keeping mine on forever and ever! I bought 85 of them when they were a dollar each when the tour started. I passed almost all of them out to co workers. I work in a hugely busy and big downtown Chicago restaurant. It was cool when customers would ask "what's that yellow braclet" or why is everyone here wearing yellow on their wrist?" I have a few left over for reserves! :) :)

Hey giorgios ...
I was just in Chicago this weekend. The yellow is all over the place, especially on the Lake Shore MUT. It was very cool. I've given many away and bought a few ten-packs. We were having dinner at Topo Gigio with extended family, and I took the wristband off my wrist and gave it to an intrigued cousin-in-law, and my parents gave their wristbands (that I had given them) to my 92-year-old uncle and his girlfriend (yes, he's a total player).

Anything trendy usually makes me want to gag, but I plan to keep mine on. Early on last summer it was pretty unique in my area, but they are pretty common now. A good thing for the cause, of course.
There has been a lot of cancer and death in my family, and I wear it for that reason; however, I also wear it to remind me that I need to "livestrong" for my mother, father, and brother who can't. It reminds me to stay on the bike, both literally and figuratively.
It reminds me of what a "man" Lance Armstrong is. It reminds me how much I love riding a bike, and have for 50 years. Maybe some of this is selfish, but it probably represents more to me than Lance even meant for it to.
It's also a bit of a "biker identifier." I'm also a competitive shooter (and good at it, I might immodestly add), and I'm proud to wear the yellow band among groups of my most "redneck" shooting buddies. If they can't see that Lance Armstrong is quite the man, even if he did dominate their hunting channel all summer (OLN), they're no friend of mine. I'm always ready to enlighten them.

I'll be wearing mine until it falls off. I've had mine for months, before I knew it was going to be trendy or "cool". I'm sure it'll get to a point where it's not cool anymore. That won't affect me. That's not why I wear it.
