Kuwahara built "Concord." I think she's a beauty, please tell me what you guys think. I know this is the FOO, but you guys are like family, and I value your opinions. :)

Gorgeous! So clean and shiny. What vintage is she?

I have two bikes made by Kuwahara, one is "Asama" but Asama used to be Kuwahara.

Thanks! :D I havn't really cleaned her up yet, I still have some detailing and waxing to do. :thumb: I'm not sure of the year as I was told that the serial number is at the bottom of the seat tube, and there are decals there that I will not remove, so as far as I can tell late 70's early 80's, but thats just from what I can tell, please post a few pics of your Kuwaharas! I'd love to see them! :)

It looks to have been ridden very little in its life, and stored well.

Classic AND vintage! :thumb:

In nearly equal measures at that.

Raises the question though. If you're changing or adding bikes, wouldn't it be an "unstable"?

Never changing, always adding. :thumb: So I guess it could be an un-stable!

Your tire needs a hair cut.

I thought you were going to make a comment on Dia-Compe "G" brake calipers.

It looks like a total piece of garbage. I don't think you'll like it.
On the other hand, I really like garbage. You can send it to me, and I'll gladly take it off your hands so you don't feel odd about it. :D

it looks very nice. A very clean vintage ride. Enjoy!

I thought you were going to make a comment on Dia-Compe "G" brake calipers. :lol:I have the same calipers on my Nishiki, with a set of Kool-Stops on the front. No complaints.

arX derailleurs puts it in the mid-80s, a solid mid- to upper-range bike. Very similar to my Kuwahara-built Nishiki Olympic 12 that I wrecked last year. A fine bike indeed.

All the mid 80's Nishiki Olympic 12's I've seen have brazed on top tube cable guides, the bike I have has cable clamps? I don't think cable clamps were used inthe mid 80's? I may be wrong though.

ilikebikes: My Asama is a hybrid, the Kuwahara is an early 90s MTB (currently at MEC getting repairs etc) I don't think you want me uglying up your pretty road bike thread with my hybrid/mtb, eh?

Why do you have a cow-bell hanging from your door knob? Do you need more cow-bell?

They are given to the crowd at the bike race, I go just about every year, the cowbells are used as a way of "clapping" for your favorite cyclist, I had to many so I gave away all but two, one on the front door and one on the back, so we can hear when the doors are opened, kinda like they do at most candy/corner stores. :) (BTW, we can all use more cowbell!)

you might try posting pictures in the classic and vintage forum and see what the fine folks there have to say about your beauty.

Good point. If it's older than that, the derailleurs have been swapped out.

I did, but I got mixed replies, some basically told me it was (low end) junk! :twitchy: like I'm f'n stupid or something! Thats why I asked the FOO, although we have many characters they are all cool peeps that can be counted on for an HONEST opinion when needed. :) Seems like some of the CnVers are just out to snag a bike. To CnVers that may be reading, you know who you are and are not, so with that siad you shouldn't take offence if it doesn't pertain to you. :thumb:
