Introductions - Heyhey! SF girl livin' it up in Tokyo

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So hmm, this is supposed to be an introduction post?
Er...

I'm 18-years-young girl, born and raised in San Francisco, where I've been riding for... f*, all my life pretty much, starting with that little tyke bike with a cute little coaster bike. I've had three bikes stolen so far — but hell, my friends and I swurr that's the equivalent to an initiation to legit cycling in the city.

And yeah, a side note. I won't ever ride a fixie — yes, I've tried — and I'll take that steel, lugged frame any day over your carbon and aluminum.

I've just moved to Japan for school and I'm hella eager to see what kinds of pretty bikes I can dig up here —*I hear there's quite a good market but all I've seen are those mamacharis.

If you love lugged steel, be sure to check out the Classic & Vintage forum. I have a few of them myself. ;)

Welcome!

Welcome to Tokyo. Which school are you attending?? I've been here coming on 3.5 years now and go to Sophia University as a full time student.

So many amazing Japanese lugged bikes. Good place to be in, I'd love to score a Zunow one day.

lugged steel is great and all

but aluminum and carbon make great frames! have you not ridden them?

enjoy tokyo. i want to live there some day. welcome to bike forums... try not to get locked into any one forum. and stay away from ssfg if your time is worth anything, it's worthless for anything but pictures of cats.

Whoa. Hold up. Does this mean we're at the same school?!

@evilfkngenius: I'm so bummed that I left a lugged Centurion (made in Japan, no less) in the States. But yes, I love Japan's vintage frames.

@cc700: SSFG? Thanks for the heads up. :) I've attempted to ride aluminum and carbon — I know they're much lighter, but I feel so unsteady. Maybe I just love the classics ;)
