Sram S300 130 BCD cyclocross crank, 44t chainring, two Salsa Crossingguard bash guards, 12-27 Shimano Ultegra 10 speed cassette and an Ultegra short cage rear derailluer.
This is installed on my Soma Double Cross, this is used for paved road travel. I can climb any hill within 100 miles of home and can I spin the cranks up to 32 mph.

A Third eye chain watcher and Salsa ringdinger have worked well for me;
cannot recall the last time I dropped a chain, even on a washboard cow path with mud and slush.

I have a 40 dollar crank set (fsa vero), and to buy the bashguard/new chain ring would cost as much as a new truvativ isoflow single crank. So thats probally the better bet?

Ultregra crank with 39t inner ring and an old outer ring ground down as an outer jump stop, with an N gear inner jump stop:

I'm using a Cane Creek lever for the front brake, because it matches the STI rear shifter better (size wise). Which gives me a V brake in the front, since the CC lever is a long pull lever. Works fine, looks odd.

I love this bike. I am trying to build something similar. I just want it to be simple and easy for bashing around in the park and maybe put fenders on. I really one to have a single chainring setup with a pauls thumbie for the rear shift. Cheers for this. two thumbs up.
