I'm just thinking out loud.......

You may have seen this on the Cervelo web site, but I was thinkin' this guy is just too big to be a good pro roadie. Like it says below, his name is Kai Hundermarck, and he road for Telekom. He's probably been pumping iron since he quit the peleton, but he still just looks too big to get over those mountains.

From the Cervelo site:

EX-TEAM TELEKOM RIDER TURNS TRIATHLETE
July 14, 2004
Kai Hundermarck was a professional cyclist for nine years at Team Telekom, rode the Tour, the Giro and the Vuelta, usually as a tired less worker for the team leaders. In 2004, Kai decided to switch to triathlon. He got a Cervélo P3, entered an Ironman as his first race (Ironman Germany), finished 11th overall and qualified for Hawaii. Congratulations to Kai

I really don't know any specifics about this rider. I do recognize the name, but I never followed his career. I know that one would have to be a solid pro to ride for Telekom for nine years. Telekom is a top team and all their riders are the cream of the crop.

Hundertmarck was a good rider for Motorola and Telekom and was defintely more of a rouleur than grimpeur...suited to spring in Belgium.

Seems that Team Telekom is now a feeder squad for Ironman....first Udo, now Hundertmarck.
