Howdy. I've been riding a Novara Aspen for several years now and I want to updrade. I live in Central Texas so most of what I do is trail riding. The Aspen weighs about 33 pounds which seems pretty heavy to me. Can you recommend a few bikes to look at that would be in the 25-27 pound range? Hardtail under $1500 if possible. Thanks.

Bump.
27#-30# will probably be doable at $1500.
25#, not so much, unless you find a used bike.
Hardtail only, of course.

The last stumpjumper HT I weighed was 24 lbs without pedals in 2007. At that time they listed for 1400
Go ride one see if it fits.

Well...I haven't checked in a while, but back in 2007(???) I think when I really wanted one, they were in the 25'ish range.
You would be off by 5lbs.
OP, if you want to spend as little as you can, get the Rockhopper. It's around $600. Weighs less about 28 - 29lbs.
Mr. Ed - How do you get the historical prices to show up on Specialized's site? Do you go through Archives? I can't seem to find their prices when I go through their archives.
Also....who in their freaking crazy mind would pay for this bike? Do they think we're on crack???

The Stumpjumper is an icon for a few reasons. The classic "SJ-remix" was designed for the hardcore old'skool enthusiast to be able to have that original SJ..yet it's brand new with proper shifting. All about the nostalgia I guess.
Most of those people are on crack though FWIW.

Indeed, they did some things on this SJ Classic that really are old school. 1" threaded steerer, Ground Control meats.
No thumbies, though.
Looks like a pretty ridiculous HA for what it is too.

'Old school' DH?
Add: Perhaps they're expecting most buyers of this to be doing townie/MUP stuff.
