I got permission to ride Sunday. If I can find my bike in the basement I'm thinking about taking it out for one more big ride. I thought for sure I would have done a 2nd century this year. I doubt I'll get it in Sunday but who knows ... I doubt it will be beaching swimming sunning weather so maybe ...

Not sure if it will be empty ... every year, the weekend after Labor Day, there's a big charity walk that uses the CCRT. Eastham is also holding it's annual "Windmill Weekend" so that brings a lot of cyclists out in the area.

I started from the lot in S. Dennis @ 8:50 am & finished the round trip at 12:00 pm. I stopped @ the S. Wellfleet general Store for a pre-made deli sandwich - to which I added a container of grilled chicken salad. Gone were the crowds and other joyous riders from the summer. It was pretty dam depressing. I was tentatively considering a second trip with a 12 mile add-on for a complete century, but my left knee was a bit sore & I had a big work week ahead of me including a vigorous morning training schedule every day, so I prudently chose to just go home and do laundry. The trail as covered with pine needles and wet spots. The bike and I got sprayed and both needed a wash. the temps were cool but warm enough for just a shirt and bike shorts. The new bike shorts with longer legs fit fine & I look forward to using them again. There's a remote possibility I can get another ride in next weekend - but it's a pretty remote possibility. I'll be out of state 2 nites,2 separate states and hotels and by time I get home I'll need to crash and do laundry.
Was on the trail this Saturday (9/19) at about 3:30 PM on my balky new (used) bike. Wasn't quite deserted, but I don't know what it's like in the heart of summer either, because I'm just getting back into biking (kids). Long stretches without seeing a soul, but enough traffic that you said "Hi" every few minutes. This was on the spur going into Chatham. This is my favorite time of year anyway. Weather is still great and all the crowds are gone.
