Mountain Biking is way more fun and exciting than road biking, not to mention a bit less of a chance of getting run over by a car :) Now, too bad the only good trails are half hour drive from me, not even worth the gas. My college days I had awesome trails about 1/4 mile from my dorm, on campus even :)

I know what you mean! I used to mtb 2 times a week then long roadrides on the weekends. The dirt trail is about 10 miles (?) away. Packing the bike, driving, unpacking etc took an hour extra time for a 1 1/2 hour ride of 15 miles. I don't really care to ride my mtb on the road 20 miles to do a 15 dirt ride.

I pretty much quit riding the trail when the price of gas shot sky high!

10 miles away I would travel for. I have trails that are 15 I could ride, but there is, at most, 20 minutes of trails. Did that once. rode like 3 loops or so to make it worth it. Did see some cute girls out jogging the trails tho, made the trip worth it ;)

Mountain Biking is way more fun and exciting than road biking,

Mountain biking is about going on adventures and seeing bears and bobcats.

Road biking is about time and distance and tracking performance metrics.

Yeah, I can't say MTB is more exciting. Depends on what you ride for.:D...I actually like the feeling of getting into a high and feeling the bike float. The feeling of gliding on the road, legs spinning and feeling the wind on your face. MTB, I actually like the climbing. I'm not one to jump logs, don't care for the feeling of riding thru a small stream getting my butt all wet!:D.. I pretty much MTB for the fitness benefits on the climbs.:thumb:

Butt, I would have to say the MTB skill it takes to keep form falling on your face really accents road riding!;)

We have miles and miles of single track all around here. Much of it is in the woods, but some is out in the open where the sun can beat down on you while riding. If you don't know where you are going, you can seriously get lost if you aren't careful.
