Electronics, Lighting, & Gadgets - Nice alternative to Dinotte taillight mount!

I for one have never been thrilled with the new plastic seatpost mount that comes with otherwise completely AWESOME Dinotte 140 taillight. Too few mounting options and too flimsy for my liking. I decided to look into a suggestion I read on another forum and get a Minoura SwingGrip to mount the taillight on. Without a doubt, this thing is rock solid! It offers quite a bit of up / down flexibility as well as room for my (yet to be re-installed) PB SuperFlash.

If you've been wrangling with finding a decent alternative to the Dinotte mount - this is a solid alternative IMHO :thumb:

I had one of these.

One time I attached 3 taillights to mine, and about 10 minutes later I had parts all over the road.

It broke at the arm's Al tabs that go into the mounting tube. No way to repair.

Slick idea, and easy to implement.

Here is what I did on my touring bike.
(It doesn't look so odd once the rack bag is mounted.)
Only drawback is the flexibility of the aluminum bar stock that sometimes lets the taillight tap the
seatpost on hard bumps.

Why not mount it under your seat? To do this, use two nylon ties to attach a short lateral bar across the back of the seat rails. You might file two grooves to insure the bar doesn't rotate. Then attach the Dinotte to the center of the rail.

I love it. Great idea!

A friend uses it to get his lights above the handlebar bag. His broke. He repaired it with dental floss and epoxy.
You might consider tying a string from the light to the arm of the bracket or reinforcing it with fiberglass.
