have a opportunity to purchase a new 2000-01 "Team Saturn" frame - "56cm Lemond Maillot Jaune Aeroluminum" that was never built on !
Has anyone had the opportunity to ride the Lemond Maillot Jaune Aeroluminum and how did they like it !

I had a 2000 Lemond Chambery, i believe the frame is identical to the Maillot Jaune, other than the paint and the Dura Ace group. I found it superb for climbing, but that was about it. It was a very harsh stiff ride...for long rides that is. It was NOT however good for descending. Always seemed shaky, never stable over 35mph. It may have been because of the long cockpit geometry, but, i am not sure. I got ride of it since it just never felt right.
I recently bought a never-used '98 maillot jaune STEEL frame and built it up. It is absolutely wonderful. I'm not so sure about the aluminum models as I too have heard what no3puttchad mentioned about the harshness.

After LeMond's recent comments about Lance, boycott the bike on sheer principle ;)

WORD to that dude...i know he was great for our sport, but, why chose to act "french"? Lance wins, and it keeps helping advance cycling in america. Who knows...someday it might be as popular with the kids as soccer???

hi I bought a 2001 alp d'huez aeroluminum (u.s made)14 months ago and love it.
i find the ride very responsive and accelerates well. last year at the noosa tri I reached speeds of 85km (50mph) on a 2km steep descent and I found it very safe. it also climbs well too.
I hope that helps.
cheers paddo

I own a 2000 Lemond Maillot Jaune. I purchased it new in 99'. I love this bike. A very quick bike, tight responsive frame. I've only ridden aluminum frames, so for me the ride is comfortable. It is full Dura Ace, Rolf wheels and a Time Stiletto fork. I upgraded with the FSA crankset and seat post. I have about 10,000 miles on this bike and it hasn't missed a beat. The green and yellow paint scheme is pretty cool too. The black and red is also sharp. I recommend picking this frame up if you have the opportunity.

Get over it.
The VW bug was commissioned by Hitler so should we boycott those? How about Ford Motor Company? I Seem to remember Henry Ford launched a large anti-semitic campaign after realizing how efficient the "killing machine" in Germany was...should we boycott his products? Probably, but the bottom line for me is: Ford makes some good vehicles, VW too, and Lemond makes a wonderful bike. Just because the product may be connected with someone who makes freak comments or has crazy ideas (read: Henry Ford) should we never utilize their designs?
This is America and anyone is free to have and voice their opinions. Allthough, you voiced yours and I bashed you for it so I guess I should get over that then huh?
Regardless, It shouldn't be a shock about his recent comments, Lemond has been voicing his suspicions (with NO proof mind you) about LA for years.

Oh yeah, In the interest of disclosure I own a Lemond.
