i am really confused about my disc brakes because they arnt nearly as strong as he v-brakes in the back..if any one could help me adjust the disc brake in any way to make it stronger it would help...thx

Is it a new bike or new brakes. Ive heard they have a brake in period.

Hayes mechanical brakes are not that great. I have used the MX-2 which is what is on your bike and I would say v-brakes would do you better. I would suggest getting some hydros or Avid mechs.

HAHAHAHA, no sorry that was wrong of me. Yeah get Hayes Hydros. I love them. I've tried my friends MX-2. I refuse to use those. Hydros work so much better and have a lot more stopping power. Of course the rotor size also effects that.

Any bikes feature disc brakes in the rear as well?

most of them, actually it's kinda rare with front-only disc brakes.. i guess manufacturers doing everything to make a cheaper bike..

You guys do realize that if he gets hayes hydros or avid mech, he will almost be paying the same amount he paid for his bike. I recommend you to ride it out and heopfully the brakes will brake in..

Then save up and try to get a better bike once youve accquired the skill.

579 cdn for the bike. Avid brakes generally go for 125$ cdn...60$ for the levers...almost 400$ for the total brake set (no wonder I buy hayes)

If you have mech levers (which you do) around 250cdn for the set :)
