Road Cycling - My first REAL road bike came! Cannondale R600

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Man is this a sweeeeeet ride. Nice and light, feels like im gliding! 20lbs with pedals. I going to buy some Speedplay X2 pedals from a local guy here in NY this Wednesday so those nasty pedals wont stay for too long. Also, im going to replace the tires on it to some red Michelin tire. I post pic of it again when i add those tires/pedals/new tape/chain.
In the future i will probably change the downtube shifter to some newer ones near the brake or bar end ones.
Its mostly 105 with the exception of the front freehub being Dura Ace!
I know its nothing compare to the bikes you guys have here but im just glad I have a light bike that wont kill me when i ride up hills.
Ok enough talking, pics time!

That bike's sweet, components are better than the bike I have now. Hehe.

Nice find...do you mind me asking how much you ended up getting it for?
I'd like to find a nice ride like that and then do some modern upgrades to it...still the way it is, is pretty cool! :)

A buddy of mine has an R600, and it's a fantastic bike for the price.
Good luck with it, and make sure you get some real pedals. ;)
it was 350$ shipped from hawaii

I'd definitely upgrade the downtube shifters. That was the best thing I did to my Bianchi. I also have red Michelins on my black Cannondale and it looks great.

Im going to save up for the shifters, so thats a definite.
and I couldnt resist not adding the red tires. Here it is:

Welcome to the club. I got a deal on mine that I couldn't turn down, so I am a R600 rider also.
got any pics bdog? The only thing I really want to do is get an adjustable stem for the bars to raise up and some red tires after seeing your bike. http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif

PriO - that's a really nice looking bike! i kind of like downtube shifters because it makes the handlebar area nice and clean. less cable looping around. enjoy your new ride :D
haha thanks! my gf is mad at me for getting the bike though. shes afraid ill spend more time with it than with her. like yesterday i went for a ride at 7:30 and i totally forget about the plans we had. needless to say i was getting her voicemail for the next 2 hours. :)

i don't know how you did that. the girl i'm dating now won't go near a bike! depsite my contant nagging and lectures about how great it is. *sigh*

it was partially your fault :)
Dang... maybe I'm even luckier than I thought I was. In the past 6 months, I've convinced her to move from her toys r us bike to a giant hybrid to her getting a new road bike this summer. Plus I told her she'd have a really hot body, I mean who doesn't want that. ;) Hmm.. maybe this could backfire on me...

Hey I did no such thing.
Despite all my telling you how much better and faster a road bike is. Well at least you're having fun with it, what's going on with your old bike? Maybe you can slap some slicks on that and have your gf at least try it out to see if she'll like biking.

If you think VMs for your gf is bad wait for the ball and chain to call (buzz kill). Nice ride for a great price. Still can't get the wife to enjoy road riding, though she is thinking of a MTB darn. She just won't spend the money for a quality ride Road or MTB.

Heh im only kidding. :) The old bike is in storage althought I did try to sell it on craiglist for 75$, but i guess i should lower it to 25$.
She wont go anywhere near a road bike. She complains how tall it is and how skinny the tires are and such. We actually went to PP today. After 1 lap she was really tired from the uphill and she had to stop near the open field a rest for a few before we continue. Maybe this will shed some light in her about road bikes. ;)

bdog...that's a sweet looking cannondale...I really like the paint scheme. Any ideas how long they offered that, just in '94?
Any other info on your bike...campy group type, aluminum, etc? I keep looking for a 'dale on ebay from that era to buy and then "upgrade". Is your's 126mm spacing or 130mm??? That's the main thing that concerns me w/ the older models...going to 9 speed.
Hey WildBill, you should check out craigslist.com
There are alot of good bikes there that people are selling. You can do a local search for it.
btw my bike is 2.8 aluminum
