Road Cycling - How do you say Veloce?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am due for a new Road bike. I went into a bike shop cause I needed a part for a Yamika rack. The shop is a Bianchi dealer. They had some nice looking bikes. Looked like som good deals on 2003 Veloce models. But I realized I can't ride one of those because I don't know how to pronounce the names of any of their stuff.
How do you say Veloce?
I guess I should stick with Trek or Felt. I can pronouce numbers

Not positive, but most people here probably pronounce it Vuh-LAH-chee or Vuh-LAH-chay.
When I was in Italy, I went to the DeRosa bike store and spoke to the DeRosas about their bikes. There was a bike there I wanted to buy, and I asked them to take me through the components I could get with the bike. Veloce was one of the components, and he pronounced it: VEL- OH- CHEY. Put the stress on the "oh".

Brillig almost has it right except it's 'low' and not 'lah', also it's ''chay' and not 'chee'- but the audio file is good.
veh-low-chay (this 'chay' ending is anglicanized but acceptable)
A vowel written in Italian always means the exact same sound - it's really handy, so the 'Ve' at the beginning sounds the same as the 'ce' really - one pure 'ehh' (slightly like a canadian 'a' sounding) sound.
the only five vowel sounds in italian are:
ahhhh (a)
ehhhh (e)
eeeee (i)
ohhhh (o)
ooooo (u)
apart from the 'ehhh' one they are all really easy for american english speakers to do in theory.
like for example:
'italiano'
ee-tah-lee-ah-no (and try not to put a 'w' sound on the end)
or
'la bicicletta'
lah bee-see-cleh-tah
if you listen to a native speaker it might sound like they are saying "ee-tal-yah-no" but if you asked them how many syllables that word has they would say 5 and not 4 because every vowel gets it's own pure sound.
hope that helps.

Just FYI, the audio is the correct pronunciation.
The two I listed afterwards were how I think most people in America pronounce it (could be wrong about that, too). Kind of like if you went to an airport and told them you wanted a flight to Baton Rouge and pronounced it in the correct French they would probably look at you like you were an alien and tell you that they only fly domestic flights. :D
Anyone here have one or shopped for one and can tell us how the salesman pronounced it when they bought it?

Thanks at least I can ask for a test ride now and not butcher the name too badly. $1150 USD seems like a good deal but I would have to replace the look style pedals. Thanks again.

I find it easier to pronounce "Record" :)
