I was just wondering if it was just me or do you name your bike? This is my first REAL bike. I named her Sandra D. I hope I am not crazy...lol. So if you do, what did you name it?

LOL....Sorry, but that cracks me up. I know a photographer who named his camera.

I am cool with it, but I just don't get it. I mean seriously...Would you name your shoes, helmet, etc? :p

I have 8 bikes, so there is no way I could keep all the names straight anyway.

Yeah, seriously, I have not put a name on any of my bikes.

But I can totally see it for whatever reason.

I know for sure that I absolutely love riding every one of them.

I have my vintage bike. Named Lotus. New racer. Named Giant. Naming bikes is for posers. My mountain bike is named Tim.

...Brown Eye.

Is that the one Brown Eye that's always winking?

I call them what they are, but kinda like pet names. I call my fixed gear "Speedy Bike"; my 29'er "The Big Wheel"; my BMX "Freestyle Bike"; road bike "The Roadie"; MTB "Ex-Cee bike"; beach cruiser "Chopper bike"; etc.

My new Eastern will be called "Cruiser bike"

My '86 Ritchey Ascent got its name on a somewhat rainy day in the mountains, with ravens flying through the mist: "Raven Cloudfinder."

The new '87 Ritchey was named on a moonlit cruise on Parker Mesa, with coyotes serenading me from a mist-filled canyon: "Coyote Moonchaser."

And the even newer 2003 Turner 5-Spot got named over the course of several rides whose theme was always, Let's prowl farther! So, it's "Cougar Farseeker."

In older days I had a Jaelithe (Gitane), Arwen (Colnago), Christopher (Columbia), The Crock (Schwinn Speedster converted to 3-speed derailer as a kind of 1971 mountain bike). The Fisher was a lousy bike so it never got a name.

The bike that will travel trails far and near to find a 2009 Ellsworth that goes for the older bikes.

i lied in my previous post, the fixed gear is dubbed the "battleship" because it's so old and made from old steel and weighs about the same.

Normally I'd say no, I don't name my bikes. For the first time ever my new bike has been named "Ms. Porky" or just plain "Porky" or "Porker". Thinking about getting it painted on the frame. She may be a pig but I still love her

A bicycle is a machine. An inanimate object. A first name, or even a nick name would be reserved for something or someone that is alive, like a person, dog, cat, or pet horse. I know of people who name their musical instruments, BB King and "Lucille", but my bikes are just bikes with no names other than the brand name. The Focus, The Trek, the Cannondale, the JC Higgins...ECT

Well, I haven't named any of my bikes. I consider them tools to achieve an end: bliss.

But I'll tell ya, I feel so gay when I ride them, I am SO happy!

You are SO cruel and cold.

Well of course you'd say this. You're a bike mechanic (according to your avatar). Day in, day out, just another bike. In your business you can't afford to get personally involved or attached.

Right on Siu...too bad a word such as "Gay" has taken on such a totally negative/derogatory meaning in the hetoro world. From all of those definitions you'd think it was a good word. Damn those lesbians and homosexuals for subverting it into...hmmm...how did this particular word get hijacked anyway???

Oh sure you meant the happy gay. Because if you didn't then it would mean something bad and something bad usually will get deleted. And if something bad gets deleted that means it was offensive. And if it's offensive then it's against forum guidelines. And if it's against forum guidelines then the mods would have to handle that accordingly. And if it has to be handled accordingly then.......you wouldn't be gay.
