Lovely! Similar to riding the levees along the everglades here, but much more scenic and rolling.

I have Continental Town and Country 2.1 x26 tires on my mtb. What do you use on gravel?

Right now I have Specialized Houffalize Pro's 700x32.

I usually use Michelin Jet's or Vredestein Campo Cross.

Great ride. I was passing through Penticton a couple of years ago and met a couple of guys riding the KVR - would love to do it.

Any tyre will be OK on gravel- including slicks. But our local gravel paths are not good---In winter. They are mostly Foresters tracks for heavy machinery and do get churned up when wet.

Very nice ride report & pics.

I did a 35 mile gravel ride recently I recommend. I started to post a thread on it, but alas I took no pictures.

It was on the Virginia Creeper Trail. http://www.vacreepertrail.com/

It is a rails to trail project and runs down Mt Rogers in southeastern Virginia from (roughly) elevation 3000' down to 1000'. Local tour companies will transport you and your bike up the hill - we paid $18 each. They will also rent you a mountain bike if you need one. The gravel would have been a problem on my road bike, so I rented a bike, but my wife's hybrid did just fine. The mountain bike was overkill, any bike with tires more than an 1½" wide should work on the fine gravel. The bike rental was an extra $15.

We met a number of people riding up, making the ride more challenging, but the grade was probably never more than 5% (and usually less), still relatively easy, given all the climbing.

Time on the bike was a little over 3 hours with riders of little experience, a very easy ride due to no climbing and smooth gravel. It is all downhill with the last 10 miles or so more flat. Lots of great scenery, especially early in the ride at higher elevation. We went through a couple of towns where you probably could have cut the ride short or stop for lunch, as we did.
