I went to observe this yesterday. I had never been to a triathlon and have been training for two months. It was fantastic. They had a half ironman an olympic and a sprint so there was always something to watch. I was really interested to see the bikes. Most were pretty high end (most prevalent brands were Felt,Cannondale, Specialized, Giant, Trek, Lemond, Cervelo, (lots of those) a couple of Kestrels and a schwinn or two. Someone road a rockhopper. I don't know anything about the pedals but noticed clog things that they just take their feet out of and run to their station in T2. The weather was perfect. Apparently the organizers are pushing to add an ironman event also.

Those "clog things" were just their bike shoes that they took off before transition.
