On Saturday there was a ride along the Carolina coast on the Outer Banks. The ride was 50 miles beginning at the Corolla Lighthouse, traveling basically south to the Bodie Island lighthouse. The weather was beautiful with the exception of the wind. As luck would have it, it blew 15 -20 dead in the face for about the last 20 miles. There was no reprive because the ride was a cycle out with the riders being bussed back to the starting point.
With the exception of the wind, the ride was pretty nice. There were several sections of road which had a lot of vehicular traffic with no paved shoulder to escape to. It felt like you were totally relying on drivers not to hit you. This was a bit unnerving, but hey, you only go around once.
