I don't know how you pulled one of those...the only time I've ever been sore there is from getting a little over-zealous with squats.

Do these exercises (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiNaadVOQEM&feature=PlayList&p=6CC0F0C2F2166E47&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=21) to prevent pulled butt muscles. :thumb:

I did the same thing two and a half weeks ago. Kept me off the bike for about a week and a half. I pulled the muscle right where it attaches to the hip bone at the top. When I first did it I thought I slipped a disk or something. After a trip to the doctor I found out it was just a pulled muscle. Hurt like H-E-double toothpicks for about a week.

Those are the same exercises my doctor prescribed. They worked great.

I pulled the Piriformis and has the opposite problem, I could barely stand or walk but sitting in the saddle was no problem. I could not stand and pedal though which probably cost me two wins, finished tenth in both races cause I could stand and sprint. I pulled mine loading a bike into a car, I hadn't been stretching as much as I should have and things got too tight.
I use a foam roller to help stretch that area, I sit on the roller and find the spot that gets to the muscles in the glute. I then cross the leg on the side that I am sitting, ankle over knee, then roll back and forth till I feel the muscle really engage. At that point I just hold the position for a minute or so..it hurts like hell but the results are no more issues with that muscle group.
Don't waste time at a doctor; go see your massage therapist. You know, the one you see at least monthly. They'll fix you up in no time.

Whew! I did that to myself in 1998 and it felt like I had been kicked in the butt cheek by a punter. I could not sit, walk, or crawl. It was too tender to bike as well. It would go into spasm and I would be writhing in pain. I did Physical Therapy, saw a few good chiropractors, and it took perhaps 6 months to heal.
You can still function half ass.
Some people spend their whole life with that handicap.

That video is nuts. That is so cool. I am actually amazed at the throwing guys accuracy to hit his crack at just the right spot for the clench, amazing.

Seriously I pulled one in high school playing football, it hurts but its not that big a deal. The big muscles heal faster, and thats the biggest muscle you have. Work it slow, ride easy if you can, it will heal before you know it.

Oh, so you mean the happy ending kind? ;)
Just rest up for a day and take a day or two to get back up to 100% effort training. You should probably add more potassium to your diet.

Sounds like the hamstrings, maybe at the tendon? I just pulled a hamstring this weekend, lower down though, where it connects at the knee. Very common injury, and quick to recover if you stay off it.
