This weekend was our bike clubs century weekend. They run it Sat & Sun, you can do one or both days. Sat was a bit drizzly and overcast so I opted for today. It was a another very good ride, same course as last year - they stuck a mountain in at mile 60. Last year my friend and I partnered up with two women about 20 miles into the ride, they were triathalon people so they were strong and disciplined riders. This year we all converged on the first rest stop at about the same time and we rode the rest of the ride together - it was great to see them again. As these rides go - this ride was almost a carbon copy of last years ride but I found the intense hill work I did this summer paid off when we got to the mountain. I still need to work at it but there was a big improvement. My overall time was almost identical to last year - my friend and I were not with a group for the first 40 miles so our average was a little lower at first, but we brought it back into line as the ride went on and at the end I was on fire, for the last 10 miles I pulled the group home - almost the inverse of last year as we had a hot start and then I faded at the end.

Graylock is now 2 weeks away - a big climb and a 70 mile ride.

Terrific job! Isn't it wonderful seeing progress? Nice reward for the hard work along the way.
