A few questions about integrated head sets: I have been using non integrated headsets on my existing bike for years. I have a Chris King on it and in 5 years, not a peep from it. What more would you ask? On the new bike being built, I will need to use an integrated headset. Is it worth the higher prices for one such as the Cane Creek 110 IS? It costs about $115, like a Chris King non integrated. How about the FSA Orbit?

I haven't found that a headset is somewhere it's worth spending a ton. Basically all you're buying is two cartridge bearings, an expander thing, a couple seals, a crown race, and a top cap.
There really isn't much to it, and the tolerances on everything except the bearings don't need to be perfect.
I'd get something in the $60 range and not worry about it anymore.

Well it also depends if your frame is Cane Creek standard or Campagnolo standard. the 110 IS only comes in the CC standard.
But, like flat baller said, integrated headsets are really just two cartidge bearings a compression ring and top cap.

So here is where I show my colors of being a Luddite when it comes in integrated headsets. What is the difference between the CC standard and Campy standard? My frame is an Orbea Orca, 2009.

i think it is the inside angle of the bearing cartridge. cc is 36 and campy is 45. i think. someone correct me if i'm wrong. if you have a headset already, look at the numbers on the cartridge. cc will say 45, 36 as my fsa one does.

actually on second thoughts does it even matter which one you use? both cc and campy have 45 deg angle on outside of the bearings. it is this angle that your frame cups need to match.

Yes it does matter. The Campy bearing is a larger 41.8mm OD and will not fit into frames designed for the 41mm IS (cane creek) standard. While it is possible to do the opposite, the bearings will sit too deep in the 45 degree seats in the head tube and the fork might not have any clearance with the head tube.

Thanks every one. It is the Cane Creek specific one, not the Campy.
