Utility Cycling - Bike and Canoe

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

As seen on the Fox River Valley bike path in Geneva Il. and he was making good time!
He was going up stream. I am wondering if he rides up stream and floats back down.

Wonder how well it works as either boat or recumbent. I notice lots of turbulent water around the spinning wheel, but almost no detectable wave coming off the bow. So it can't have been moving much when the picture was taken - of course she may have just started to accelerate from a standstill.
I've used my bike as tow vehicle for both my single and double (18') kayaks. Works great as long as there aren't too many hills. Unfortunately most of the reservoirs around here do require some climbing. The nearest one involves going up almost 1000' and then dropping back down on the other side. About the same as climbing hills with touring stuff - gear down and grind it out.

It's quite a lovely piece of the small boat builders craft, but it's got to accelerate on the road like a dying whale. I has to be pretty heavy.

Wonder if he has a way to carry the bike on the canoe when he goes downstream so he doesn't have to go back and get it.
