Checked the usual suspects; pedals, skewers, bottom bracket, crank arms, headset adjustment, bars, stem.....
it was the aheadset. Carbon frame with aluminum cups for the bearings, the top race had grease between the sealed bearing and the cup, the bottom cup had none...it is a new road bike that I've had 2 months
