Electronics, Lighting, & Gadgets - GPS logger

Hi

I'm looking for a good GPS logger, that I want to carry with me for a ride, and then after the ride be able to connect the device to a Windows PC and download the ride into something like Googgle maps.
I though about getting Garmin Edge 205, but I don't really need the feature to find way and the other bike computer features.
Any suggesions? Thanks :-)

Most any handheld GPS's will log, Garmin Etrex for example. Also some of the GPS enabled sports watches. If you want the most bacis Garmin has those Etrex H's for under $100 street price, though I'd recommend getting one with the x in the model as those accept a microSD card which lets you record longer tracks.

I bought one of these on 07/31/09 and have been very happy with it..The only quirk ive found is it sometimes takes a bit longer that noted to get a signal..If it dosent pick up quickly it has always found a sat within 1/2 mile or so..The last link was where I purchased from ..Zero problems with delivery time, packaging or product..

I downloaded a donation-ware program for my BlackBerry Bold, called GPSLogger. This software is cool.

See the images - one is the map on my BlackBerry that the logger draws, as it tracks your route. The other is the resultant map, in Google Maps. Cool stuff.

I bought an Adapt 850 data logger off ebay $60. I like it. It uses a standard nokia battery which I like.

You might look at the tracker bugs with sms messaging. You might be able to use it to track a stolen bike or other property.

I've been considering a gps logger. There seem to be lots of good choices in a small enough packate out there. Most of them claim you can get your data onto google maps/earth. The problem for me is that *I don't do windoze*.

I use a freeware program (nonigpsplot) on my windoze mobile phone, hooked via bluetooth to a tiny gps receiver (i have a Holux 1000).
It works really well, nonigpsplot allows me to export the route to GPX which then you can use with google earth, or import it into webapps like sportypal.

I'm using it sportypal not only to import in it, but also to record the track. It is pretty good, and if you have a holder on your bike where to attach the phone, it will provide very accurate info.
