Foo - Picked up a new toy this weekend, rc car.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have been sort of bummed out lately since I can no longer race bikes. The competitive side of me is absolutely miserable. I have found a new hobby, photography, but that doesn't really take care of the competitive part of me. Anyway, I started thinking about things that I did in the past that made me happy and I started thinking about how much fun I used to have racing remote control cars.

Next thing I knew I was on the internet researching them then I was at the hobby shops, then I went and watched the WV state championships. Not only were the races awesome the people there were very nice and more than happy to share information. Even cooler was that I saw a friend of mine that used to race bikes as well but is currently taking some time off due to losing a foot in a motorcycle race. He is getting into the hobby as well.

So far the only thing I have in my possession is the car. It is a Team Losi 8ight-E 2.0. I have ordered a charger and power supply. I still need a remote, receiver, servo, and batteries. I'm still amazed at how much the batteries cost, those freaking things are $189 each!!!

Anyway, here it is. I painted the body yesterday so I am one step closer to getting to try it out for the first time. :D

cool! There is a rock clad man made waterfall in the park at the end of our street. One day, the boys and I watched two guys with RC rock crawlers do some pretty amazing stuff on the rocks. I have wanted one ever since.

Nice job on the construction LowCel.

I had a Traxxas stadium truck once upon a time. Never raced it but had lots of fun in the yard til the kids broke it.

That's nothing. I keep telling my kids that one day we will live in a hole in the ground covered by the rubble that used to be the house.

That was a great Monty Python sketch.

But the salesman was still recovering from an altercation with some lunatic that was looking for an RC helicopter...

I would but I don't want to share my toys. :innocent:

BTW, Will was doing great when I saw him this past weekend. He is in great spirits and getting around really well. Cindy seemed to be doing great as well.

Decided to build a trailer to take to the races to make life a little easier. It's coming along pretty nice so far.

I used to race both nitro and electric cars. They are a blast, however the hobby had a way of emptying my bank account. You can never just have one car or just one motor per car.

The Traxxas T-MAXX 3.3 (http://www.traxxas.com/products/nitro/maxx/tmaxx33/trx_tmaxx33.htm) is by far the most fun, in my experience with RC cars. I still have it and a few others nitro cars/trucks.

I really like the hauler, do they not have pit stalls at your local track?

Enjoy :D

There is electricity at the track so I will be able to just back up to an outlet and plug in.

I forgot how addictive of a hobby it is. So far I "only" have six cars. :D

Here are a couple of pictures of one of my on-road cars. I had the body custom painted by an up and coming painter in Michigan.
