I rode at the 2009 Connecticut Valley Century in Hatfield, MA yesterday...my first full century! 104 miles in 7:10.
Fantastic day for riding: sunny, temp in the 70's. The roads started out pretty wet from overnight rain, but they dried out by the time I reached the first SAG stop. I was riding solo, but met some great people along the way. And the scenery riding through Massachusetts and Vermont was beautiful.

Congrats Steve!! Completing that first century is always special. The great thing about centuries is they are all memoriable. Get signed up for another one!

Congrats on finishing! Did you take any photos of the scenery?
Nice job on finishing your first one - I remember the feeling of seeing the computer tick over to three digits for the first time, it is a magical thing.
Keep it up and you'll be doing doubles in no time!

Thanks everyone!

No, but I wish I did. Really beautiful ride through dairy farms, past a waterfall, and over the Connecticut river. Next time I'll remember to bring the camera.

It's so true, my first century was a charity ride, I rode in a lot of pacelines and was able to finish in 6 hours and change. Yesterday I did a solo century, and avoided a big climb (it was getting late), and it still took me over 7 hours!
Keep it up! :)
I rode my first century in 1996, but the feeling of watching it odometer tick over 100 never gets old. I did my 14th 'official' double century yesterday, and that never gets old either. You just keep wanting to push your limits!

One is all you need. They get old after that.
