I need to know if putting different sized tires on my HT will cause any issues? I need to replace my Heavy and shatty stock Bontragers....I wanted to get something lighter, I was also debating using a different size in the back vs. front. Now here is thew question is it better to have a larger front tire for better control or is it better to go bigger on the rear to make it more comfy?
I want a tire that is good allaround but light.....600grams or less 2.2-2.3?? Any insights??

In general, no issues as far as I know. Most opinions that I have heard say to put the bigger in front for, as you said, better control.

I have a Velociraptor 2.1 in front, Weirwolf 2.3 in back. The combination works well for me.

Just make sure you have enough clearance, especially on the back, because the tire can hit the front derailleur.

Thanks Guys..I found a sale on Vredsteins BlackPanthers under $20,,for a 2.0 or a 2.35 I may get one of each and see what happens...MTBR had some good reviews so wish me luck.

Don't worry so much about the weight of the tire unless you race. If you do race, you will likley run 2.1's that can get down to around 500g.

for my temporary rebuild (until i get to shop seriously...soon i hope!), i found 600g, inexpensive tires in Michelin Mud 2.0 in back and Country A.T. in the front 2.0 though the A.T. looks much larger (esp. taller).

of course, as i discovered the other day, the A.T. is not the best in finding a line in REALLY mucky conditions...i seemed to be hydroMudplaning on big carves, but it is still a good all-around tire in most conditions. $18 for the A.T. and $24 for the Mud

btw, the MUD is a great rear tire (mount it in the right direction!). has performed beyond my expectations
(but of course, i see you want a bit wider tire...)
