Weighed in this morning at 205, down three pounds from my last weigh in two weeks ago, and down 6 lbs since I started keeping track a month ago. I put in rides of 30 and 44 miles last week, along with a couple shorter rides. I'm hoping to put in at least a 50 miler this coming weekend.

Sounds like you are off to another great week Jersh. After my 6 pound drop from 254 to 248 I have put a couple back on to 250. But the good news is I know what I needed to do to drop those 6 so I am hoping for a quick reversal this week and getting back to 248 or below.

Lost another three pounds this week. I didn't get in as many miles this week as last, but I did get a metric century in yesterday that should show up on my weight loss for next week.

I also downloaded and have listened to the audio book, "The Abs Diet". I have been put off by the name of the book for so long, but I decided to give it a listen and it really makes sense. I think that it will be a long, long time before I see my abs, but the philosophy behind the book makes sense to me. The premise is that it’s not the calories we burn during exercise that helps up lose weight and maintain weight loss, but the calories we burn when not doing these activities, like when we sleep or sit on our butts. The book states for every pound of lean muscle we build, the body burns an extra 50 calories per day just in basal metabolic processes. I find it interesting but have not applied the exercise yet. I am getting myself psyched up to begin a good Core training on my off days and for the winter, so perhaps I can take advantage to the Abs diet while doing those activities.

Current Weight = 245
Last Week = 248
Lost = 3lbs

No gain in the last couple of weeks, but no lose either. :( Things have been crazy, but I've found a love for mountain biking.

Well, apparently it was time for the piper to be paid. My lack of workoouts and poor caught up to me this week in the form of two additional pounds.:( Not too worried however as I think this week will be better. More focused on diet for sure! 246 3/4 as of this morning.

Goals for this week would be to lose at least three lbs. and ride 50 miles. That's one's going to be tough as I have some business travel planned and will have two days with no access to a bike.

Weight at beginning of week: 258

Weight at end of week: 255

Lost: 3 lbs. (actually 3.5 lbs.)

I'm a school administrator and since school has started it's been difficult to put in my goal of 120km a week. I've had to do an 80km ride each weekend to get it in. I started riding again two months ago and started counting calories one month ago because I was riding a lot, but not losing weight. I've lost 13 lbs. in the first month of counting calories. 80% diet, 20% exercise is what I've been told, and I believe it now.

Next week's goal. is to lose 3 more lbs. to 252. At some point it's going to be tougher to lose the weight. But for right now, I'm eating plenty, enjoying the riding and still losing pounds. What a deal!!:)

All Right! Sounds like everybody kicked butt last week. Great work! I was really, really hoping I would be able to report that I had dropped below 280 today. Not quite there yet. I currently weigh 280 even. I'm down 5 pounds from last week for a total of weight loss of 76 pounds. Goal for next week; lose 2 pounds.

Intresting point Don. It has been well established that adding muscle burns extra calories 24/7. I've added weight lifting on an irregular basis. I lift and spin when my afternoon rides are rained out. As you may know Mobile, Alabama gets more rain than any other city in the US most years. In fact we got almost an inch of rain this afternoon! I was able to get in 10 miles between downpours.:D

Small world John. I'm a middle school principal. I'm currently riding between 8 and 12 miles in the afternoon. I set a target of Oct. 1 to start commuting to work, but my wife's not too keen on the idea.

I want to join! :)

Weight When I Had My "Must Change" Moment: 282
Started: November 2008
Weight Last Week: 226
Weigh In This Morning: 224.5

Been counting my calories rather meticulously in the past 15 days and it's helped dramatically, trying to keep a deficit no less than 400, ideally 600 avg, and no more than 1000 on extreme, time crunched days. 1000 days are RARE, like once every 2 months, when I do homework all day and forget to eat a few meals. Cheat meals are a once a month if ever thing for me, and are usually "oops..." instead of intentional.

Riding about 6-8 miles a day when I can. It creates a bigger deficit, yes, but I try to focus on my calorie counting and intake. The exercise is more for cardiovascular endurance and overall fitness, helping me condition for ice hockey etc.

I wake up every morning now at 0500 and PT, sit ups, push ups, over head arm claps, single and double leg lifts, planks... general calisthenics. I usually use that time to do homework since I have painting homework, but once I get cut on hours at work (-crosses fingers-) it'll be morning daily ride time. I haven't commuted to school yet due to the need to transport WET oil paintings so.. :(

OK I weighed in on Monday 177 not good, so I weighed in today 175.5 which is ok. Still seeemingly holding steady...that's really all I am aiming or lately - just stay the course. I guess my theory is if I restrict it may back fir right now -a nd will drop weight once i start on a routine again with a new role...not sure where yet. So for now am having fun Bar B Queing and trying not too indulge too much.

Riding every other day or so. Sat was the 38 miler hilly ride, Sunday was the flatish ride 44 miles.. Tues tonight - the 18 miler hilly intown ride...

then what? Hmmm Wed/Thursday not sure.
Saturday a Century or Metric century at Beautiful Back Roads (A charity ride that ends at the Budweiser plant)

OK _ Drink more water, eat less nuts!

My first. They gave out certificates to all the newbies.

It took me 7 hours (riding time), but I did it!

Still at 205 lbs., so I still need to work on that goal.

Thanks to all who passed along advice. All the diet and training info paid off as I didn't "suffer" at any point along the route.
