Hello everyone! I recently have had a renewed interest in cycling again. I used to do it in the Netherlands, many years ago as a teenager, as my main mode of
transportation. Last week I was given a Peugeot that my father had purchased while we lived there. My best guess is that it is around a 1976-1978. If
anyone could help me identify the model and/or an exact year, I would greatly appreciate it! I'm not very saavy when it comes to the mechanical aspects of
bikes and its components, so I hope my details are accurate. I noticed while reading the forums yesterday how much photos help, so I took a few last eve,
and here they are:

On the left rear dropout it has the number "Y801 10142". (sorry, blurry)

That's a great looking bike! I have a 1978 Peugeot UO-10, it's close, but not the same bike. It's a touring model. That's the extent of my knowledge, thankfully there are others who can provide more useful information. Enjoy!

Might be a uo-9 or uo-8 (very similar bikes). Mid seventies. Stem shifter and decals are the giveaways. All the UO10s I've seen have Peugeot badged Stronglight cranks, although the outfitting may have been different in Europe, so this could be that model. The fenders and lamp on your bike are very cool. If you're planning on making it a rider, make sure your rims are alloy (better braking; I believe yours are steel) and perhaps put barcon (bar-end) shifters in place of the gutrippers.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the rims are steel as well. Thank you both for all of the info and suggestions. I'll keep an eye out here in case anyone else has any additional information.

Thanks again,
-Vince

I am guessing UO-8, ca. 1976. The earlier ones had different decals and Mafac brakes.

Once again, look at the dropouts-they have no spring-nut. Also, derailleurs are inexpensive Simplex units, very cheap. Ringset has only 3 bolts, with cuff-ring, another clue to humble origins. Not a valuable cycle, but worth using for everyday riding.
Please adjust bars correctly, and remove the poulet levers.

It seems that the consensus thinks it is a 1976 UO-8.

Thanks for the info and ideas, everyone!
