While on my search for the best means to secure my newest baby from theft, I stumbled upon this bike forum and I think I'll stick around for a while. My birthday present to myself ..... a brand new Trek 950 with Shimano Deore LX thru and thru who rides like I'm on air. Very smooth. :thumb: Bought her on ebay for a killer price from a bike dealer who had her stashed away in a warehouse. Every review I read about this bike was glowing positive and lots of chants to grab one up if you ever find one, so to find one brand spanking new .... wow! Just couldn't pass it up and I'm glad I didn't.

I love all forms of riding but by far my favorite is trail riding and riding in the moonlight. Where I live, there's lots of open space to ride. Quick easy commute to the ocean and beach towns, San Francisco, country, hills and mountains. I highly recommend this area for road, trail and touring. Truly gorgeous!

Oh say, anyone have good tips on alarm systems, best u's, etc? ....

Thanks for the lock tip, CbadRider. So, is that new toy desire of the human or bike variety? I did purchase a Kryptonite U-lock and cable. My God, this thing is huge and heavy and the mounting bracket leaves much to be desired. You'd think for such a great company with an earned reputation for making good locks that they'd spend a little research time figuring out a better mounting bracket. Thank goodness for innovative thinkers who like a challenge (that would be me!) who intends on creating a mounting system that can be attached to a Topeak pannier MTN rack. I was hoping the U-portion would slide up under the rack but alas, too wide.
