Bicycle Mechanics - Carbon assembly paste/gel - recomendations?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Greetings all:

I can basically find two options here:

1. Finish Line Fiber Grip: http://www.finishlineusa.com/products/fiber_grip.htm

2. Tacx Dynamic Carbon Assembly Paste: http://www.competitivecyclist.com/ro...21.1727.0.html

Any recomendations between the two? I know the Finish line is cheaper but I'm willing to pay more if the Tacx is better.

Thanks, Steve.

Can't comment on the Finish line because I've never used it. I've used Tacx and I like it.

I've used both. I can tell no difference.

I have to wonder if Vaseline or any cheap grease mixed with fine grit sand would work just the same.

Well, go ahead and give it a try on your carbon parts and get back to us in about 5 years.

Finish Line seemed more readily available and came recommended on the few threads I found by searching. We'll see how well it holds up on my commuter (CF frame with aluminum seatpost). Only 60 miles so far on the new build in two commutes this week though.
