I saw a bike in Brooklyn, named Kinfolk. It had a very neat looking stem with the bolts concealed/flush with the body. Wonder who makes it. A search on Amazon does not show anything like that.

You could contact them and ask about the stem maybe.

The pictures I saw on that thread were of quill stems. They're made for threaded forks and headsets.

Mostly sold through but here are some extremely clean stems: http://www.peterwhitecycles.com/stems.asp

Those DA stems are gorgeous.

The photo you took of the bike shows a brand name on the stem, though I can't make it out. A place to start?

Oops, I spelled it wrong. It looks like a Thomson Elite, now that I've googled...

I have a picture, I was not able to upload intitially. Let me try now.

The clamping bolt(s) seem to be facing away from the rider, and are flush with the body, which is not the usual case for threadless stems.

I will agree that looks like a Thomson Elite MTB stem

Looking at the bar, I'd say Thomson Elite Road.
The silver version of this. Could be tough to dig one up. (http://www.treefortbikes.com/125_333222337820__Elite-Road-Stem-26.0.html)
