Can someone recommend a good wireless computer? Just the regular functions will do. But cadence and or HR would be a plus. I would also like to keep the cost below $100.00.

I have the Cateye cordless 7 and I am not at all pleased with it. For some reason while at a stand still it sometimes reads 40-60+ mph. The speed is all over the place. It will read 19 one second then down to 8 up to 23 down to 19 again. Last Saturday it only logged 196 miles of the 206 that I rode. Makes me wonder just how many miles I have lost.

I have the Vetta 100 wireless with the wireless cadence (runs @ $130 US with cadence and @ $60 without). I've been very happy with the operation of the computer and its accuracy. My only beef is with Vetta. I had a question about the installation. Vetta never responded to either emails or phone calls. Luckily I had ordered the computer through Performance. They were very helpful and managed to straighten things out for me.

I just purchased the Vetta V100. I got it from performance bike for 89.99 + a 20 dollar off coupon ... The 89.99 was a special and i'm not sure if it's still going on. If not it can probably be had for 109.99 using the coupon codes they have available. It does have cadence but not HR. The install was easy and took me about a half hour. So far I love it :)

The front tire is an obvious place to put the magnet, but does anyone know of a wireless computer that can be put on the back wheel? Would come in handy when using an indoor trainer. Cadence is a must.

I was looking at that model but was going to go a bit higher and get the altimeter. Until I read the reviews on Road Bike Review that where not that great. Then again alot people told me how great Cateye was and what a piece of junk that has turned out to be.

Anyone have thought's on Shimano's Flight Deck? Good or Bad.

You have no complaints what so ever about this computer?

I don't think I have ever heard of this kind. Do you remember where you bought it?

Thanks everyone for your reply's

Nope, haven't had any complaints yet. Took me about 10 minutes to figure it all out, a little bit longer to figure out why it woudn't auto-start but it's worked fine so far. The cadence magnet you attach to the crank will be a pain if your crank doesn't have a flat face on the inside.

mine does that the same thing.. and that really pisses me off cuz that makes my avg. speed hella low! sometimes even lower than before.. i dont' know if it's because it's wireless.. but i'm beginning to think about getting the wired ones.

another complaint i have about eh cordless 7 is that.. it's cool if u mount it on ur handle bars.. but u can't mount it on the stem unless if u used zip ties like i did. i tried to mount it on my aero bar (C2 has a special mounting thingy for that) but the thing is.. the data transfer sucks.. cuz sometimes it won't even get any data from it.

For the most part, I like them but I do have a few complaints. You can read up on my thoughts about my FlightDecks in a previous post (http://www.bikeforums.net/showpost.php?p=251013&postcount=7).

Me too! I had an Cateye wired with Cadence and loved it for years until my wife asked me if she could get a computer for her bike. Being the unselfish husband that I am, I offered her mine, she accepted and I bought myself a new one. (Specialized Turbo Elite Cyclocomputer) Trouble is the cadence on the new one is wired and it's the speedometer/odometer that's wireless -- can't measure miles unless the FRONT wheel is turning (since the stupid wireless sensor needs to be so close to the display). Looks like I'll be measuring trainer miles by the hour or buying my third cyclometer ;-) DOH! I guess the karma got me!

And other gripe about this unit: The darn manual is printed in a book that 2"x3" -- that's 160 pages worth of microtype thats less legible than a pocket bible for pete's sake -- and no PDF version on the web. If you opt for this model, by a magnifying glass too.

I had a Topeak Panaram(SP?) that was wireless and it worked well. Never had the problems that I do with the Cateye. I just couldn't get over the size of it. It was HUGE like having a laptop mounted on your bars.

Well I think I will go with the Vetta. Now do I fork out the extra money for the altimeter or not.

i was going to go for the topeak panarama type as well.. until... i saw it... yup... it's pretty huge.. but very effective though.. especially if you had bad eye sights. hehe.

Gee talk about timing! Today I called my LBS about the Cateye Cordless 7 I bought there that will not keep a constant speed reading. When I speed up it drops down 10 to 15 mph lower then the current speed, then catches up! Up and down like that; I tried everything before I callled them. They told me they knew all about that problem and to just bring it in and they would exchange it for a new one, but not one that is cordless. They said the Cateye was the best they could find at the time but are not selling cordless anymore. Claims the technology isn't ready yet! Now I'm sad. Oh well, at least they are trading me one of equal value. On my way right now! I just thought of something! This will make my bike faster!

since no one has mentioned it, mavic wintec + cadence is about $130-$140. Wireless cadence, but get a new magnet with a ziptie unless you have steel cranks (does anyone have those anymore?) Wheel sensor is a replacement skewer for the front wheel, so no good for the indoor trainer unless you use rollers. Readings are consistent and crosstalk/interference have not been an issue. HRM is not included, but my polar hrm is not impacted by the computer nor vice-versa.

Down-sides: Cadence magnet doesn't have a zip-tie, and glue doesn't work well on a non-flat surface of my FSA cranks. = it fell off.

Computer takes 7 seconds to stop after bike stops, impacting your avg speed.

COST!

go with the astrale 8 wired for $35. :)

Want to talk huge? Take a gander at one of those naviiONs (http://www.naviion.com/us/). Pretty cool features though.

I've been incredibly happy with my CicloSport CM411. Goes for about $50 and has served me fabulously...
