Foo - The critics hate the new Leno Show

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Oh no. What will we do? It's just like the old show they say.

So what's the problem?

Idiot critics.

A BikeForums members edition of Jaywalking would be funnier, and even more idiotic.

You can't even spell O'Brien. By the way, tonight Leno did a bit where Conan makes a cute little baby cry.

Leno and Letterman should've hung it up over ten years ago. Letterman is downright painful. Leno...if it's like his old show...meh at best. Craig Ferguson is the only one who is actually funny.

I like Leno's taste in cars better than Carson's. Leno's sense of humor ... not so much.

Letterman does the best interview IMO. They all suck at stand up.

Letterman has the best band, Conan has the quickest wit, Leno has the best cars, and Ferguson is just plain Crazy!
I'm a David Letterman person. When he's on, it's unbelievable!
Like when he interviewed Paris Hilton. OMG!!
I wish Jay Leno all the luck in this new time slot.

"Poor Leno" is the third single released by the Norwegian duo Röyksopp. It was released in December 2001 as the second single from Röyksopp's debut album Melody A.M.

David Letterman used to be hilarious..best of the bunch. I don't even like him these days. Fortunately, I have the choice of not having to watch any of these shows.

daredevil
09-16-09, 09:15 PM
watching it for the first time since nothing else is on....

During his stand up, Leno reads his jokes, Letterman doesn't. Neither are funny at it but Leno's delivery is not nearly as smooth. Carson's stand up wasn't that funny either really. All of them are mildly amusing. What can you expect night after night? Carson was clever as is Letterman. And like I mentioned earlier, Letterman's interviews come very easy and are often fascinating. For example, Joaquin Phoenix. Carson did a good interview too.

Most the bits these guys do suck also. Again, mildly amusing in my opinion.

I would like to attend a Letterman taping some day mainly because I'd like to be in the Ed Sullivan Theater. The Beatles and all ya know.

One more thing, Johnny had the best band by far with Doc.

The difference between Letterman and Carson is that Carson had class. Letterman never did, but in the earlier days it didn't matter because Letterman did some pretty "on the edge" stuff and was very funny with it.

Now, he's just a boor.

Dave lean a little too left for you does he? You base this "class" statement on what exactly?

And Letterman is still alive btw. ;)

See also elegance, grace, dignity, style. Carson had "it", Letterman does not. A large part of his success is being an affable buffon on his show.

My opinion, based on years of observation. YMMV. I watched Carson until he went off the air, and Letterman until several years ago. He was a real showman with cool the hi-jinks and stunts he pulled. Maybe he's tired now - dunno.

As an aside, the LA based shows seem to get a better selection of guests. Probably a larger pool to draw from, what with LA and Hollywood in such close proximity.

I didn't like Conan at first....but I'm warming up to him. He rides a Seven. I think his headtube is the the same length as my seat tube!!!

Conan may ride a Seven, but he's on a Serotta in that picture.

And you're all wrong. The true kings of late night were Chevy Chase and Magic Johnson.

in that picture, is it just my eyes or is his front wheel a 650? I know he's super tall, what kind of freakish porportions would neccesate a setup like that?

Letterman is sure better at even standup than he was as a weatherman in Indianapolis at WTHR, years ago. If he predicted rain, you needed sunscreen and if he predicted sun, you needed either an umbrella opr a blizzard suit. :p

I can't stand either. Leno is a mediocre stand-up comedian, um, Conan has NEVER been funny.

Prime example of corporate networks forcing pap on us. Best thing to do is to refuse to watch, if the numbers are low enough, the show gets yanked.

Well, sometimes. I can't find why people find 30 Rock funny, or that Office show with Steve what's his face, or the Parks and Recreation disaster. This style of "comedy" that's on all of the networks today is just a waste of time to watch from my viewpoint. Its not funny, plus all the wiggling camera crap.

Letterman would have been a much better replacement for Johnny, but NBC really screwed him over.

Agree completely.

The original British, Ricky Gervais version of The Office is very funny. This current NBC attempt is awful yet it's a hit.

Isn't that just the way so many times, the UK version kicks butt and the US remake simply, well, blows.

I just watched it tonight. Started with a weak rip-off of Top Gear's "Star in a reasonably priced car" which was really really stupid. Then it went to a remote interview with Mel Gibson. The format was supposed to be 10 questions called "10 at 10", but you could tell it was scripted. The whole point of interviewing someone like Mel Gibson, Gary Busey, or some other crazy person is that they could possibly say something nutty. But scripted questions are even more boring than a normal interview, and turns it into another dumb bit. Then he went house to house and acted out NBC shows in a blatant attempt to scrounge ratings for them. The show was complete crap from start to finish, and I don't think I'll be watching it again.

That car thing was lame for sure. Ping pong balls and streamers as obstacles. Man TV sucks these days. What else must have been on for me to pick that?
