Commuting - Winter Jacket that actually fits well?

I'm on the skinny scale 5'7" @ 130lbs. I have North Face and Columbia jackets that are sized at Small, which is as low as they go. Both have a lot of extra fabric and dont really fit true to my form, meaning theyre just too big. Are there jackets that fit true to form, not skin tight, but not with excess?

I'm looking for a shell that fits my slim profile without too much excess hanging out.

Try cycling-specific jackets. Shop around several LBSs and try them on. Especially in NYC, you're bound to find the right jacket with a little legwork.

You'll also find several features common to cycling-specific jackets that make them much better suited to cycling, beyond fit.


Gorilla-length sleeves don't ride up when you're on the hoods or in the drops.
Neckline cut so it doesn't choke you when on the hoods or in the drops.
Extra long tail keeps your rump covered and dry.
Assorted zip-up vents to control airflow inside the jacket for heat and sweat management.

I have the same problem with being too skinny for some "small" jackets. Not to mention finding shirts...

Hey jude, try american apparel Tshirts. Wootshirt uses only american apparel, and i think most of threadless.com's shirts are AA as well.

Take a look at some of the climber-oriented jackets from brands like Mountain Hardware. Climbers also tend to have slim profiles.

At 5' 7", you might try the larger youth sizes, too.
