I wanted to get a paint job on a vintage colngao that i have been wanting to rebuild. I contacted the colango rep in the states. They told me that the paint job would be $700-$1000 and a six month turnaround!!!!!!  I just emailed them to get some decals but they cannot because they want to watch out for scamers painting frames and passing them off as colnagos. so i found a powdercoater in long island that would do it for under $100 but i need to get some decals. I was also thinking of finding someone to airbrush them on but that would probably cost$$$$
yo brooklyn.
Often see Colnago decals on e-bay.
If you want a quality paint job and decals contact
The Pfieffers at www.koolbikes.com (http://www.koolbikes.com)
They do alot of restoration work, and can duplicate decals.
The better frame restorers/repainters can get original decals alot of the time.
One other thing, it won't cost you $700, probably half that.

Originally. lived on e. 19th st just off ocean ave.
Family still there (ave Y.)
Do you frequent Roy's? they might be able to
recommend a good painter more local than the Carolinas.

I live on bedford and Ave U.
I stopped going to Roys since i feel that they really dont know anything. I think its the owner.
CyclArt did a great job on my Capo, including reproduction of the downtube decals. They are currently refinishing a friend's Capo with reproductions of all of the original decals. (See oldroads.com, vintage bicycles database for pictures of an unrestored 1960 Capo.)

Would definitely recommend CyclArt as an alternative. They did a restore on my '82 Colnago about 3 yrs after I bought it...I remember putting it all back together with my 20 month old son sitting squarely in my lap.
Last weekend my 20 YEAR old son and I were out chasing each other around; he on a Trek and me on that still great looking Colnago!
Note: if you have any chrome parts of the frame get them to rechrome them, too.

No roast beef sandwich at Rolling Roaster?
Pastrami or Corned beef at Katz's in the city?
A good Greek diner cheeseburger deluxe with Cheese fries and gravy?
Just Lundies?

brooklyn,
Seems like it was around $375 or so even back in 1984. My vintage brain is having a hard time remembering.
Glass beaded the frame, poured linseed oil down the tubes to act as a preservative, rechromed the fork, head lugs, chainstays and dropouts. Repainted the frame from its original royal blue with yellow accents to a silver with black accents in the cutouts. All new, correct decals. I think it took about 3 months.
I need to find a set of Campy gum brake hoods, rewrap the bars either with white cloth tape or maybe some of that new cork stuff and I'll be set. Does anyone know of a web site that is reliably offering things like Campy Record brake hoods for a '82 vintage bike?
They'd earlier did a '74 Frejus-Legnano I had (seat binder bolt inside the main triangle), going from that weird yellow-green metallic with white panels to red metalllic with white panels. Added shift bosses on the down tube. Chromed just the faces of the droputs, and then I got a new seat binder bolt from a machine shop that used a smooth and flat Allen key; eliminated the nut that kept gouging my leg. Applied correct decals, but probably earlier style on the down tube. That cost I think around $320 in '83.
