Except for a few (very few) stainless steel fittings the whole thing is carbon or kevlar. Sweet!

I've owned tandem bicycles since the early 70's; Cuevas, Trek, Cannondale, lots and lots of Santanas. Our current fave is an S&S Coupled Santana Beyond-a mix of carbon and titanium.

Somehow or another as our retirement approached Miss M and I discovered that we wanted to spend a whole lot more time tandeming together. Then once we did retire (early this summer) we started out on an ok but only ok inexpensive new tandem.

After tandeming together 5 or 6 times a week we decided to upgrade. So I contacted a custom builder and discussed our abilities, fitness and intentions. He whipped a little something together. We picked it up last week.

After some final custom fittings and words of advice we were off on our new ride!

Good thing we brought the roof rack.......

You should have waited on posting the pictures until someone here asked for them. I, and I think mostly everyone here, looked at the pictures first and then read your post. It kind of ruins it. If you'd edit your post I'd erase mine....

Does the captain sit in the rear of one of those?
I've heard those called divorce boats by my friends that Yak.

The stronger paddler usually sits in the rear and steers but it is less size dependent than a tandem bike so swapping positions is not much of a problem.

Your friends that yak likely don't ride tandem bicycles either.

For someone used to bicycle prices it was shockingly cheap for full carbon custom tandem.

About $4k.

My wife and I have a tandem bike (Santana) and a tandem Yak. Someday, I'd like to build my own wood-strip tandem Yak. Sweet boat.

So what's the purpose of this post? Do you have a question, or did you just want to show off your toys and your minivan?

So what's the purpose of this post? Do you have a question, or did you just want to show off your toys and your minivan? What if it is? If you don't want to read it don't. Those of us that have been here for a few years and have tandems have other interests as well that we like to share with each other.

Kayaking and cycling naturally go together. You should go to the utility cycling forum, and get some ideas for building a bike-trailer which will haul your yak.

Nice tandem yak!!!
One of our sons has a single c/f yak and loves it.
Cuevas tandem? Have seen only one of those back in late 70s/early 80s.
Paddle (or Pedal) on TWOgether!

The ultimate Weight-Weenie bike! "I could drop nearly 15 pounds from my bike if I got rid of these components. Now lets replace the frame with a huge carbon fairing. Light and aero!"
