Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Orientation of Miche Cog Carrier

Hi!
To get my chainline straigt I have to move my rear cog a bit to the center, the only way to to this would be to change the orientation of the cog carrier..
My question is, if there is anything that speaks against doing this besides not being able to change my cog quickly..

For better understanding there is a picture of the situation.

If it is not possible, how would a 3mm (about 1/8 inch) off chainline affect the bike?

you can also move the crank or chainring outboard.

as it is a kind of old frame it has cottered cranks (http://sheldonbrown.com/cotters.html )
so sadly this is not an option..

Will you still be able to thread on the lockring with a spacer in there?

dont have any spacers yet, but i'm pretty sure the lockring still fits, as the cog carrier would be closer to the center of the hub

try it, the carrier is essentially a spacer so that the chain won't rub/get stuck between the hub.

Of course not. Try it and let us know how it works. As long as the cog is secure, and the carrier and lockring engage plenty of threads, it should work. If not, don't do it. A chainline thats 3mm off is well within tolerances.

Yeah, you're engaging less threads everywhere depending on how thick the spacer is.

You could also move your chainring to the right a few mm with a BB spacer. This is a much more reasonable solution. There are a lot more threads on a BB cup.
