Hey everyone, how can I prevent this? This area is wearing out so fast on my levi 501s. Surprisingly, its going fine on my Buffalo jeans.

It's totally comfortable to ride in them, but they just wear so fast. Different seat maybe?

You'll have a pretty sweet pair of chaps soon.

You need 200$ jeans to prevent this.

I've always wondered how people wear out their pants so fast.

My saddle has abrasion marks from where my jeans rub. After my ride there's balled up pieces of old saddle stuck to my ass.

It's inevitable. Check this out on prolly's blog:

Wait so you guys ride in the SAME PAIR of jeans EVERY DAY?

Don't they... uh... smell bad?

Mine do not smell bad.

I have also never had pants be destroyed due to riding.

I ride in a few different pairs and they're all beat down and patched up.

One pair in particular is really brutal on the saddle/crotch though.

i dont ride in tight jeans, so they wear a lot less.

You need the new Levi Fixie-Oh-Ones. They have a new colorway for street slamming.

When I had a perforated seat, it ate though jeans.

I never had any wear on my pants until I got this Bontrager saddle, which ate through my two pairs of jeans this summer. Now I have holes where my sit bones go.

Get a pair of Carhartt UB01...if you hurry, you might still be able to get some that were made in the states.

Turn 'em inside out and let them air out on the line. I had a girl smell my 501's (from February, but didn't wear every day) and she couldn't even tell that I've never washed them.

The sarcastic side of me wants to recommend Self Edge's 21oz denim cycling jean. The salt from your sweat will break the denim down before they wear through.

I like that you felt the gender was important on this one. Anyone can smell ingrained SWASS.

For me, it depends on the saddle. Anything with embroidery, like the Selle San Marco REVER, will eat thru pants like no one's business.

Try cycling shorts. They feel rad.

I have a pair of old American Eagle shorts that are wicked, but they're all torn and have permanent stains.

Now, black[grey] or blue Levi 501s?

Quit riding your bike and just take pictures of it.

You can't prevent it. 501's are classics, but the denim is thin and any amount of riding will cause serious crotch wear in no time.

I don't ride with jeans but pretty much all my shorts have a strange discoloration around the ass with the exact shape of my saddle... weird uh?

Don't wear jeans to ride.

If it's a little ride to someplace at low speed then fine, but longer rides, where you wanna ride fast...

Get some padded shorts, or at least wear something of a sports material.

Same here spinerguy. Sucks, but then again, I'm usually in shorts because I want to ride a bike.

cloths wear out. it's from wearing them. had many ass blow outs from jeans i never worn on a bike. Levi's have gone down hill in the past few years sense they stopped making them in Mexico and Canada.
If you have an old pair of 501's or 505's from say 6 or 8 years ago, they will wear like iron, if you bough a pair of Levi 511's (new within the past 3 years) you will be lucky to get a years wear out of them without wearing them on a bike at all.

Levi's I know, i sold them and for 11+ years.
