Hi,
I turned an old rigid Trek 950ST in a commuter and have been riding for a couple weeks now. The current saddle is the one that came on it used. It's some version of a Planet Bike comfort seat with a decent amount of softer padding and a narrowish normal shape(not wide) with narrow nose.
The problem I'm having is not my ass, but the taint that gets irritated. I'm not sure if it could be helped by better positioning or not. I currently have the seat all the way back on the rails(for proper bar reach feel), and tilted slightly forward.
I thought that also it could be because the padding is too soft, so my but sinks in and then taint sets just a bit on the center depression in saddle. Then with pedaling it moves slightly left and right. My seatpost is adjusted pretty high for full leg extension. I understand seams from underwear could cause issues, but I usually wear decent boxer/brief types(ExOfficio) so I don't think that's the problem.
So, if anyone can offer suggestion to save my taint,or for a taint saving saddle for my bike that would be $100 or less, I'd appreciate it. I'd love to get a really nice, pricey saddle, but would worry when locking around town.Thanks.
