I'm probably going to regret this; however, today on a whim, I finally decided to share the biggest gold mining technique useful for finding just about anything (new or vintage) on craigslist with the like minded folk who enjoy vintage cycling, repair, etc.
1) Pull Up Google.com
2) Enter into the search field the portion in quotes: "site:craigslist.org schwinn paramount (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=jTj&q=site%3Acraigslist.org+schwinn+paramount&btnG=Search)"
You will end up searching all of craigslist for a schwinn paramount - instead of your local market. The best thing about a site search is that you can search for exact phrases, use the minus symbol to avoid certain items, etc. Local markets tend to drive prices down (vs that of e-bay), so you can usually find rare vintage bikes or parts much easier this way (or even new stuff).
Yeah there are dead links when something has sold, but by and large this is the "best" way to find something outside of e-bay without having a lot of competition out there, although I guess I just increased the competition. If you have a difficult time, you can put in the current month and current year for more recent posts.

Ok, so using this technique - what's the rarest best deal you can find? If you find something you end up buying with this approach, please tell us about it!
