2 hours ago. I'm a total newbie, just having converted my old schwinn, and then upgrading to this, my first entry level track bike. Came around 5pm, greased and tightened everything, and rode it a couple of miles. The only basis for comparison is my 1970's Schwinn Continental which weighs 30lbs, so I felt like I was flying.

That's a 55cm, and I'm exactly 6'. Maybe a bit on the small side for me...standover is almost 2".

If my comment helps any, I'm 5'11" with a 31" inseam (comfortably) and my 53cm Kilo fits me perfectly.

Hmmm so tempted to get one. You need to slow your bike down so i can see the pictures better... or rather... get a better camera!

lucky you, think mine is coming tomorrow. Btw did you have to tighten the cog(i don't have the chain tool or a cog gear tool) and what kind of grease did you use?

Contact Mike from BD on this forum. He's awesome and I'm certain he'll take care of you.

Saw this in the kilo thread, seems to be pretty common all of the sudden for some reason. IIRC when i got my kilo frame from bikeisland the fork ends were sitting in a block of styrofoam. idk why BD isnt packing them this way...

I didn't tighten the cog or lockring. I didn't really touch the back wheel area or BB yet, but greased the pedal threads and seatpost with Phil Wood grease that I have lying around. I'll probably inspect the cog, lockring and BB when I have a few more miles on it. I really just wanted to throw it together and try it out before the sun set today (hence no brake cable).

Could you possibly post a good side-on picture of the bike with the stem flipped over? That'd be way off the chain

Yeah, just remove the stem and flip it over so that it angles down instead of up. I'd like to see what it looks like if you don't mind the hassle =P

Yeah, so it angles up even more the other way. I was too lazy to readjust the bars. And you'll have to live with cellphone pics for now.

Ahh, I see. You had the stem flipped from the get-go, assuming the bikesdirect pictures as our point of reference
the decal is on the saddle??? that's actually kind of cool.

I just received my 53 cm WhiteSplash. I'll take photos as soon as its out of the box and assembled. For those wondering, the color could almost be described as pearl. It looks a little like the pearl paint on high-end cars. It arrived well-packed and completely damage free.

As promised. Here are photos.
Some thougthts: The white looks like a bright white until it is in direct light. Then it has a metallic pearly finish. Also, the gold in the pedals is a really dark gold and kind of unnecessary. Its a totally different color than the chain.
As for size, I am 5'10" with a 32" cycling inseam and the 53 cm is a little bit big but not so big that it is uncomfortable. I probably could have gone with the 50cm but really its a toss up.
The bike looks and feels extremely well made. The ride is quick and a little twitchy but I am used to road geometry. Its a blast to ride.
I added a freewheel and will add the rear brake soon. I plan to swap out the drops for risers or bullhorns since I will never use the drops. I'm going to give the saddle a chance but it will probably go as well.

I recieved my white Stripper yesterday and I am very impressed. No issues right out of the box( I was kind of worried about the forks being bent). The little stickers that are on it are removable so I have no stickers on the frame. The bars kind of sucked so I flop and choped them to hold me off until I get my risers. The wheels were true and the cog lockring was tight. I really don't like the pedals so I will change those out for clipless in the near future. All in all I am satisfied with the stripper

I have a 50cm Kilo as well.

When you chopped the bars, were you able to salvage the tape?
And, I do have pretty short legs. Not like freakishly short, but short. At least that's what my mom told me after the kids chased me home from school making fun of my stumps. Now I can outrun the bullies on my badass bike.

Here's my review of the stripper:
pros:
Super light (compared to my old roadie conversion)
powerful front brake
good looking paint and frame
awesome value
cons:
Super doofy gold parts. Why would I want a gold chain/pedals with any paint color?
pedals seem a little small
tires seem a little plasticy/cheap, but have worked fine
Had to cut the front brake line by 60% because it was way too long... a little strange.
All in all everything is awesome, great value for teh moniez. I will be replacing the gold chain and pedals ASAP, and adding a 17t fixed cog on the hub.

When you chopped the bars, were you able to salvage the tape?
Yes and no. I used a pipe cutter and just pealed down the tape but the cutter caught the tape in a couple of places. It is not real bad but it will do until I get the new bars.

oh wow that box got battered. My box held up fine. However my front wheel needed to be trued out of the box. It wasn't really bad but not what you would expect from a new wheel.

That BlueStar is a gorgeous color!
I've been lurking and researching on the forums and here goes my first post :)
It appears bikesdirect restocked the Kilo Stripper in Black Magic TODAY and I just completed my order for one in 53cm. I'm super excited and the timing couldn't have been more perfect, considering school is starting and my car just went into the shop for some serious work.
I'll be sure to keep you guys updated on the bike and my experience with bikesdirect as it unfolds..
Cheers!

It's a glossy white, you can only really see the glitter in the sun and even then it's not super prominent. Perfectly done IMO. I bought some black pedals and a black chain today, gunna put that on and post some pics

Here's my raw stripper. Sorry I don't have a real camera, its my iPhone camera. So far it's doing fine for riding around the city, probably going to switch out the 16t cog and go with a 17t cog and then switch out the tires. The drops will do fine for now, but the pedals and chain may have to go too.

It's 110mm 83/97º. Brand is Dimension
eMXiMeR - you replaced the stem with essentially the same stem?
More or less. It's a little shorter and I believe the angle is a little greater, it definitely feels more comfortable to me. This was a spur of the moment purchase when I was at my LBS buying the black pedals and I saw the stem and thought "blak stem would be s0000 sexay!", so I bought it.
