I've been hoarding this bike way too long. I've tried unsuccessfully to trade it, but no one had been interested. It's time for it to go.
This is a Raleigh made Gazelle, humpback, with a Sturmey Archer TCW hub date of 11/59 or a 12/59...I can't remember offhand.
The three speed works, the coaster brake works, the front brake works but needs a little lovin'. It's always stopped me, so I've never really bothered to mess around with it.
The paint is in pretty decent shape, with a small spot of rust here and there. The gold pin striping is all mostly there, and it is quite a nice touch on the red of the frame. The badge is in excellent shape and fairly unique.
The fork appears to be tweaked slightly back, and you can kind of see it in the pictures. I measured about a 2mm gap on both legs. There is no frame damage, buckling, paint flaking, ect.
Tires are Firestones and are fine enough. The tubes hold air as well. It has a new Sram chain, and a 22t or 23t Shimano cog if I remember correctly. The cranks are super short, and would be great for a smaller adult or early teen. The wheelbase is about 1 inch shorter than my Rudge.
I've got too many other bikes, and never ride this one. I would consider a trade for anything quality English made.
The price is $140 with some room to dicker. If I have to drive a bit to meet you, the price is going to stay in that ballpark. This bike is located in Kingston, NY 12401, and I would prefer to deal with someone face to face. If this price is out of line, please find a nice way to tell me and we'll take it from there :)
I swore I had more pictures, but I can't find them right now. I can take more pictures if necessary, but it's a pretty standard 3-speed.
**edit** wheelbase
**edit** tweaked fork? I'm sorry, I forgot all about it until I dusted the bike off for some pictures.
