Professional Cycling For the Fans - If LA ever tests positive, will that mean that everyone dopes?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

If Lance Armstrong ever tests positive for doping, can we then assume that all professional cyclists dope?

And will he give back his 7 TdF trophies?

Id say they all dope and id say i dont care they do.

We are seeing a reduction of positives which to me means the dope has pulled ahead of the testing again.

Amen. I could not care less. So much time is wasted on this stupid topic. Too bad people can't spend the time discussing bike racing.

I think it's because people are using lesser amounts so the effects fall under the level that triggers a positive. I think that's a step in the right direction considering that complete eradication of drugs is very unlikely.

On the face of it this seems like a simple question, but really it is not. While we can never assume that all professional cyclists are doping. I think it is fair to say that if LA tested positive, it would throw a huge (and I mean huge), shadow on the bulk of the pro peleton. Because it would mean that it was likely that he had been doping for some time and got away with it. Therefore, it is likely that a lot of other top pros are getting away with it.

Would he give up his 7 trophies? No way. They would have to prove that he doped back then. I don't think that they could under UCI rules. He would do a Basso and say something like. " I doped to try and come back, but I was clean back then when I won the 7 tours".
