is it worthy to buy the more expensive one? What's the difference?

I like the "rack blinky 5" which is very bright and has a nice bracket to mount on your rack. 3 less than the 8 and 2 more than the 3.

The only PlanetBike taillight you should consider is the superflash. Unfortunately, the street price seems to have gone up recently, but it's well worth the ~$23 it will cost you.

FWIW, the main LED on the red & white Superflash is also firing through a clear lens.

Between the 7 and the 3, go for the 7. I'd also call the 7 a good supplementary light to a Superflash thanks to its LEDs pointing every which way.

If you get a 3-LED Planet Bike light, get the one that attaches to the back of a helmet:

That way, you can be pretty sure that it'll be pointing the right direction and actually be useful. I've seen riders with a PBSF clipped to a backpack or messenger bag, and it points anywhere except towards car drivers.

On my version of that link, Amazon lists the helmet taillight, PBSF, and a Beamer headlight as "Frequently Bought Together". That's a decent, basic light kit for city riding on lit streets, IMO.

I have a PB Superflash Stealth and as far as attention getting it is the best of the bunch of lights I have. Also BarracksSi made a good point about the direction it is pointing to get its full effect.

I don't have either the Blinky 3 or the Blinky 7 but I do have the Rack Blinky 5. When off, the Rack Blinky 5 serves as a rear reflector. When on the Rack Blinky 5 has a great glow effect making it brighter than you would think. I believe the PB rear lights use the same mounting platform; so in my case I can clip my PB lights to different points on my bikes.

I suspect the almost unanimous praise the pbsf has been given has resulted in the price hike.

I will see what I can do to curb this blatant display of ruthless capitalism.

Attn, everybody!!!!! the pb superflash is utter sheeit. don't buy it until they drop it back down to 15 bucks.

Oh, and the Sette has two flash modes (different patterns) and one constant. The PB has just one flash mode and constant.

Another superflash convert here. I've used probably a dozen different blinkies through the years, and the SF is hands down the best value for money (even at $25). I'd imagine it would be hard to find a better value below $100, where you get into Dinotte territory.

I rock/roll/run the superflash, too.

Just received two PBSF and one Sette 316 from Price Point.

The Sette is Brighter and only cost $9.98

Yes it opens without a screwdriver.

The quality is just as good as the PBSF.

I showed both lights to another rider without him knowing what the lights were.
He said right off the Sette was Brighter.

Whatever lights you get, aim them for maximum effectiveness. I frequently see taillights aimed in useless directions (down, up, sideways) instead of directly to the rear.

I wonder if the Sette has different circuitry to get the brighter output. If you wave the PBSF around, even on steady, you'll notice that it's not a purely constant light -- it's got that slight flicker like streetlights, TV tubes, and such.

My Dinotte lights have the same flicker on lower output settings, with the most being on the lowest. But, on high, they don't flicker at all -- but battery life is the shortest, too.
