Later this fall my wife and I will be spending a few days in Lynchburg and I am considering hanging the mountain bikes on a rack and taking them with us.

The Lynchburg city web site indicates there are several bike paths but it will be a first time visit and I don't know a thing about the area.

Will it be worthwhile to take the bikes?

And, which paths will be the best for a day ride and perhaps a picnic?

Thanks in advance,
Rick

Cycling in Lynchburg is pretty awful, as far as I'm concerned. I'm not familiar with the bike paths, but the roads to get around town would be murder on bikes.

You'd be pretty close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. I'd be sure to hit that if I were staying in the area.
