I have a Raleigh Grand Prix. This is the code on it NH7038229, I'm trying to figure out what year it is and how much to sell it for. I have it at my Flea Market spot and have had aleast three people ask about it and the last guy was trying to get a price out of me. So I know it must be worth something. I will get pictures Friday and post them If I need to. It also says Ral. Ind. LTD 20-30 Hi Carb tubing on it. The seat said Brooks made in england on the back. It has black foam type stuff on the handle bars and some of it is missing. I'm new here. :DThanks, Jamie

1977.
Is the Brooks saddle leather on the bottom? If so, it might be worth close to what the rest of the bike is. These ride pretty nice, but there were so many of them, and they don't fetch a lot unless they're in near mint condition.
Where you are also has a lot of bearing on the market value. Do you live in a major metropolitan area?

What does that mean? Do you mean the word Brooks or can you see leather in the bottom? My husband thinks the seat is vinyl but I'm not sure. We live near two major metropolitan areas.

1. Why do you have a bike available at your 'flea market' space without a price?
2. Its seems your auctioning it off at the flea market. Flea markets are for selling things cheap...not auctioning.
Flea markets bikes are worth no moe than 50% of the valuation you'll get from us. In general the pricing structure goes like this:
Ebay>CL>pawn stores>garage sales>flea markets>stolen bikes
Before I get criticized let it be said that there are 2 flea market vendors I work with. I've told both exactly what they can get for their bikes on CL, as is, and they both refuse to do it therefore I dont pay them much for thier bikes. They can get triple what I pay in the click of a mouse but dont. If they're not willing to help themselves why should I help them?
At a flea market the Raleighs worth $25. $50 maximum.
Just because people ask, doesn't mean it is worth much. It is a low end Raleigh, without pics, I would not want to guess it's value.
+1 Jim's comments: Sell it at a flear market, 50% discount. I would just change Jim's order a little bit, selling at a garage sale will net even less in my experience.
On a lower end bike like the Grand Prix you run against the shipping hurdle on ebay. Shipping a bike can cost around $75. Smart buyers discount their bids to cover this additional cost. On mid grade and higher bikes, it doesn't affect pricing much. On lower end bikes, it can.
To market it on Craigs List or ebay, you need an awesome ad and great pictures. But you will be rewarded with a higher price. And the bike needs to be in top condition and ready to ride. People looking for projects expect huge discounts.

The bike is not available. I have it sitting in my storage area of my spot where I put my stuff to be priced. Sorry I asked. I don't need to be torn down. I don't know anything about bikes. I saw it was from England and thought it was interesting. I looked on ebay and saw some for $59-$79. Just wanted to know if I could sell it for around that price. I have another bike about the same age and better condition but no one is interested in it. So that is why I thought it may be worth more.

Jim's not tearing you down. He is just very matter-of-fact about bike pricing. You asked, and he answered. Please don't be offended. The man does not waste words, and he knows of which he speaks. Before this thread was created, your query likely would have met with "3.50" so don't feel torn down. But if you needed a part that no one has, Jim may well be the one here that would send it to you, unsolicited.
I think his point was that a flea market sales environment will and should expect to bring the lowest offers and prices. That's what flea markets are all about, low labor, low overhead, low price.
He also gave you a fine example of how you can get more for that bike without much effort at all, just like the flea market vendors he deals with.
Then he rationalized the expectations you may have about pricing from the forum. We generally price based on make/model/condition/venue. He's letting you know that your venue will result in a much different price than you may hear, here.
Jim and Bill gave you the market info, and the others have pretty much helped, also:
1-Flea market will bring you $25-$50 max, due to the sales venue.
2-The saddle may be worth as much or more than the bike, if it's a leather Brooks in good shape.
3-It's a nice bike but there were an awful lot of them made and brought across the pond.
4-It's a lower end bike in the Raleigh line, so being made in England doesn't help there.
You're far better off on local Craigslist, or a free trader ad, but it's your time and money. In decent condition, with no more than $30 in parts needed, it's a $50 bike. If you get that offered, I'd take it.
I'm RobbieTunes, welcome to the forum, and we're here to help. We're also great looking, highly intelligent, and friendly as a bunch of hungry cats.
If you really want to get torn down, try the road forum. Whew, those guys are sarcastic.

Thanks, I also sell on Craigslist, so I was going to post it there, too. Thanks for your answers. Jamie

Is the Brooks saddle leather on the bottom?
What does that mean?
When you flip the saddle over, or look under the saddle if it is still on the bike, do you see a hard plastic frame or do you see a steel frame and leather that is fitted to the steel frame?

Not to dig up old dirt.......but if its 'not available' then you first statement is confusing.
Prices:
Local flea market: $50-75 people will buy anything at the flea market.
Cl: $75-125 depending on condition.
+1 I am confused as well. Either it is available, or it is not available. Huh?
