This picture is of the underside of my father's De Rosa Planet downtube. What is it, and should he be worried? The bike has never been in a crash, if that helps. Comments are as always very welcome :D

A De Rosa Planet is an aluminium bike if you cared to check. If this is indeed a form of oxidation, is the integrity of the frame affected at all ?- only serious answers please. Watch the Boks beat the pants of the All Blacks this weekend :p

You are looking at aluminum oxide powder under the paint. Lots of al frames get this around the braze-ons and other spots where moisture can get under the paint. There is no structual problem, just a bad skin condition.
