Great Lakes - Ronald Reagan Crit

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I see carlosflanders is in there. Anybody else going?
Looks like it will be a nice, cozy affair. Myself and 13 of my closest friends in the 30+ 4/5 race. I'm hoping we get enough riders to make a potential top-10 upgrade worthy. Although, I've been sick and off the bike all week, so I don't know if it matters anyway...
Why do you all hate America so much?

Signed up at the last minute because it's almost a hometown event (<90 mins away) and it deserves support.
No idea why I'm doing it. I hate crits and I want to be fresh for Jackson park on Sunday.
That said, look for me breaking off the front or back with 3 laps to go. Wherever the uphill is.
So, it's only me and the guy with the Canadian sounding accent? Where are the patriots this time of year?
Carlos- I'm still far from 100%. I was at the Dr. on Wednesday and haven't ridden since Saturday. The good news is that I don't have "the swine" and that the Dr. says I can race if I want. The bad news is that I'm pretty sure I'm going to fall apart out there.
Anyhow, if I can hang in enough to "hang in" but not enough to finish strong, I might be willing to try and string them out before you attack.

I already did Herbert Hoover Days race in West Branch, Iowa. Sunday is Obama's home turf. Might as well do Ronnie's crit on Satruday.
Before Ronnie came to the White House, the USA was well-liked in Europe, afterwards not.
Looking at the list of entrants, just about everybody has a better sprint than me. If I sense people getting tired I'll take a flyer. MJH2 I'll give you a leadout for a prime if you're up to it.

A man accidentally invades Panama one time and the world holds a grudge. Such is life!
I think somebody needs to organize the "Lincoln's Tomb crit" and "Galena's General Grant Road Race" so we can have cycling's "Mt. Rushmore Cup".
I'm off to Dixon (too early, I know). See you there.
Nice little crit. 8 turns with constant elevation changes over about a 1 minute lap. A few bumps to keep everybody honest, and a downhill sprint.
Very "down home" feeling with a Farmers Market running concurrently with the early races. Even Amish girls selling pies... Very cool.
I liked it. I'll be back next year. I hope more people make it out.

I liked it a lot as well. Lots of ups and downs and false flats to ensure nobody was able to hide. MJH2 got in the early break of 6 and ended up in the money. Amish pies are the best. Deserves to be supported.
Bike shop guy told me we should all email the organisers to say how much we enjoyed it and to mention the bumps. Says the mayor might take notice and ensure it gets repaved if a few people do this.
