Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - First 25 mile ride

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I just completed my first 25 mile ride this morning. I rode 25.3 miles at 15.2 mph. I am 3 miles short of 600 miles on my bike of 4 months. I don't get to ride as much as I would like with work, kids and life getting in the way but I am hooked.

nice job!!
I know how you feel.
Did my first 30mile at 15.3mph avg. a couple weeks ago.
It hard to get time to ride when you are an adult with responsibilities.

You'll be amazed how quickly 30, 40+ miles will come, and great speed, that's about where I'm at, speed-wise, and 30-40 miles are my average rides. Just started riding in May and am amazed at how far I can now ride.
I'm now a bike junky too :)

Congrats on hitting your milestone! Won't be long before that 25 mile ride is a recovery ride for you. Keep up the enthusiasm!

That's a fine speed for a Clyde with just 600 miles on his legs. Congratulations!
Thanks everyone for the kind words. Its pretty flat around here and that helps with the speed but where I ride on the island there is always a good 10- 15 mph head wind for 1/2 the ride. I ran a lot before foot problems made me stop and then the weight started to come back, so biking has filled that void. 25 miles is about all the time I can find to ride and most the time do 15-20 miles while the kids are at practice or therapy. I am 6-2 and 235 and my goal is to be a min Clyde at 200.
Good job! That's moving a long at a pretty decent clip!

Keep it up and you can see progress where you can. I just pulled my first 50 miler (52.5, could have been a metric but a long story behind that one) yesterday. So it can happen. Keep it up and learn from the lessons you need to learn!
Did my first 30 miles today with avg. speed 15.6. Started early so I had very little wind until the last 8 miles. 30 down and only 70 to go.

There are huge advantages to being 60 with grown kids!!
