Hello!
I have heard mixed to bad reviews on this HRM/GPS. However, I found one new for $200--they were going for close to $500 last year. $200 is about what I would like to spend. Is this a good product, or should I avoid it?
Thanks!

I just bought the Polar RS800CX RUN along with the G3 sensor. It just showed up this week, so I haven't even had time to play with it yet. The research I did was very favorable. I wanted something to complement my Garmin 705, but designed for running, hiking, etc. I bought the G3 gps sensor with it so I could use it kayaking, cross country skiing, etc. And of course it comes with the stride sensor for running. The watch is reasonably sized and fairly comfortable to wear. The previous polar units that I've had worked flawlessly, and I'm sure this one will be no different. I'm not sure what the difference was between the RS800 and RS800CX, but I remember it being somewhat major. The water resistant levels maybe? I don't think you'll be dissapointed though.

Well, I decided to go ahead and take advantage of this "great deal." I brought the HRM/GPS home and couldn't get the watch unit and GPS to synch (i.e. the watch couldn't detect the GPS sensor). After playing with it for half an hour, I called Polar customer support. After waiting about half an hour for an available associate, the guy I spoke to had me try everything I had already tried on my own. He finally told me to take out the battery to reset the GPS and then it would work. Nope. I would think with the overwhelming popularity of the forerunner, Polar might try a little harder. Returned it for a refund.
